Project Life: February 23 - March 1

For a while, I have been wanting to give my bathroom a makeover.  So, now is the time.  The wall hangings with the leaves on it are from my Aunt Shirley (they didn't work in her house, I don't think), the shower curtain in just plain, the towels have green and brown stripes, which I think will go great with the leaves on the wall hangings.  It's still a work in progress, but these are the pieces I have to get me started.

While I was loading the dishwasher, Madeline decided she wanted to get in too.  She climbed up all my herself.  I had walked away for a minute to do something else, so of course when I turned around and saw this, I had to stop and take a picture before deciding that I better get her down before she got hurt.

When Emma was little, she had tons of toys, like this kitchen that she rarely played with.  She wasn't really the play independently type.  She was much more into having us play with her, or entertain her, and she loved her little kid movies, like Bear in the Big Blue House, Jo Jo's Circus, etc.  Madeline seems to be the opposite.  She really loves to play with toys, and is taking advantage of all the toys that we had for Emma that are in like new condition, since Emma didn't play with them much.   Here's a cute pic of Madeline playing with the kitchen, which is in our kitchen.  Emma sat her on that little stool, and she just played and played.  So cute!

Remember a week or so ago when I had the paper pieces taped to the wall?  Well, this is what went in it's place.  I was so proud of this, since I did it myself.  I used a hammer and everything!  Normally I would ask Ike to do things like hang up pictures, but I am trying to branch out, and learn how to do more things on my own.  Go me!

I really haven't had time to sew in a while, but this weekend, I decided it was time.  Ike had a pair of pants that needed to be fixed, I had a curtain that I needed to modify to make 2 curtains, and I had come up with an idea to make Madeline a 1st birthday hat.  So, I went to my closet and drug out my sewing machine for the first time in a while.  It felt good to get it back out.  I really find sewing relaxing for the most part, and wish I had more time to do it.

This is the beginnings of Madeline's 1st birthday hat.  The colors that I chose match her invitations, in case you are wondering why they look odd.  It's made of felt, which I had never worked with before, but it was super easy.

Here is the finished product.  I'm not sold on the color combo, even though it matches the invites.  I think I may have to make another one, out of just the pink and green, since I think those look great together.  My 1 is also a little crooked.  Oh well,  think it turned out great for my first try.

  5. So now that you've been bitten by the decorating bug, you need to come to my house and re-decorate for me. I'm so sick of the way I did everything! Madeline is so funny. I can't wait for our babies to play together again.
