More sewing

Today I made 2 burp clothes. One for Madeline and one for Liam. Madeline's turned out ok, but I tried to do a zigzag stitch around her M, and that didn't work out to0 well. I did a strait stitch around Liam's L, and I think it turned out much better.

Here they are:

Madeline hates peas!

Well, at least it seems like she does, after we attempted to give them to her last night. She will be 5 months old on the 9th, so we decided now was good time to start her on baby food. Last night was the first time we tried, and our doctor suggested that we start with a green veggie. So, peas is was. Madeline first just held the peas in her mouth, unsure of what she was supposed to do with this mush I had just put into her mouth. She slowly started to try to swallow it, but didn't seem to like the taste at all. She made an ugly face and then shook her head like she had eaten something sour and was trying to "shake it off". It was hilarious! I continued to try, and she continued with the ugly faces. I think she got more on her bib than in her mouth, but we are going to keep trying.

Help!! I'm sewing and I can 't stop!

Apparently my crafting from the weekend (my crinkly squares) were not enough to satisfy my crafting urge. When I got home from town today, I was at it again. Today, I decided to make a bib and a travel wipes/diaper pouch.

Here are the links to the tutorials/patterns that I used:
Bib: http://chickpeastudio.typepad.com/chickpea_sewing_studio/2008/01/chickpea-infant.html

Travel wipes/diaper pouch:

Now, the moment you have been waiting for. Ok, maybe not, but here they are anyway!

This is the front of the bib, and the plain pink is the back. This was my first attempt at a bib, and I think it turned out great. The pattern was super easy, and it fit Madeline really well.

Here is a pic of Madeline modeling it for me!

This is the diaper/wipes thing. I think it turned out pretty good, but if I make another one, I will make it a little larger than the pattern, or use a smaller seam allowance, to allow for extra room.

I'm so crafty!! NOT!!

I have been feeling the urge to craft for a few weeks now. Normally I am not crafty at all, and rely on my sis to help me out in this area. But, I finally decided to just do it! So, I got out my sewing machine, and decided to make something. I found a tutorial online for these cute little crinkly squares that have little ribbon tags on the edges. Madeline has been eating her clothes lately, so I thought these would be great for her. So, I got all my supplies out, and got going. It didn't take me long to make the first one at all, so I made 2 more. Madeline seems to like them, so at least it wasn't a waste of time.

You can see the tutorial here: http://www.joyshope.com/2009/05/baby-crinkle-square-tutorial.html

I did exactly as the tutorial said for the most part, and I used baby wipe refill packaging for the "crinkle". I tried to use a gerber onesie package, but it didn't "crinkle" as good as the wipes packaging. Please excuse my "wonkiness", but I don't think I did so bad, considering this was the first time I have used my sewing machine without Erin's help.

Here are a few pictures of my finished products!
